The practice was founded by Jeff Russell, a healthcare entrepreneur with a long background in global business operations including healthcare. Our Columbus, Georgia clinic was established in 2025 on the St. Francis-Emory Healthcare campus, when we acquired the wound care department from the hospital. It started operating as an independent clinic at the same time. Originally known as the Columbus Diabetes and Wound Care Center, it originally focused on diabetic wound care.

In 2026, the decision was made by the Company to implement its original 2024 business plan which provides diabetes management, metabolic health, neuropathy and wound care. Subsequently the practice rebranded and is now doing business as American Diabetes and Metabolic Centers. This reflects the broader scope and the broader vision behind it. The Columbus clinic continues to operate on the St. Francis-Emory campus and is soon offering services across the street from Piedmont Hospital.

Four specialties, one practice.

We have organized the practice around four clinical specialties that, in the lives of real patients, are deeply connected: diabetes management, metabolic health, neuropathy, and wound care. The patient with poorly controlled diabetes often develops neuropathy. The patient with severe neuropathy is more likely to develop chronic foot wounds. The patient struggling with weight and metabolic dysfunction is at higher risk for all of these. Treating them under one practice, with one coordinated team, is faster, more effective, and less exhausting for the patient.

Specialist depth, daily care.

Our practice is led by physicians, including endocrinology and wound care specialists, and supported by experienced nurse practitioners and clinical staff. The model is designed so that the patient's day-to-day care is anchored by clinicians who know them well, with specialist depth available immediately as questions arise. That combination — of consistent relationship and clinical sophistication — is what we believe complex chronic care requires.

Our Name

American Diabetes and Metabolic Centers is the registered trade name of Columbus Diabetes and Wound Care Center, LLC. Both names refer to the same practice, the same providers, and the same location. You will see the legal name on insurance filings and official paperwork, and the ADMC name on our signage and materials.
